I am planning to try something new and challenging for 30 days every 30 days. I will post progress, photos and notes on here.
Every month there will be an experiment. Lets refer to it as Monthly Experiment X or MEX for short (jingle yet to come).
- MEX will challenge, educate and inspire.
- MEX may leave people shaking their heads saying "Now why would he do THAT?"
- MEX does not bite but may shed.
So I thought to myself.
And then I got up and grabbed a coffee.
And I thought again.
What was something else that I was afraid of, something that I had never consciously thought about and something I knew little about? The answer, not slowly but rather surely came.
Vegetarianism.
The single word that strikes fear into the heart of meat eaters and grade three spelling bee contestants.
Please stay posted for the next post on my Vegetarian MEX. It will answer such itchy questions as:
- Why vegetarianism?
- But what about bacon?
- Is China a vegetarian friendly place to live?
- What have the reactions been like to this new MEX?
- But I want to hear about the wedding?!
Animals are my friends... and I don't eat my friends.

Hahaha~~~~~why dont you choose all the grass, trees,flowers...as your friends too? Then you can still choose to be friendly with the air,water,sand,soil.....so you can eat nothing.....
Post some pics about your wedding!
take care you 2
Hey there. Thanks for the comment. I'm still unsure about the eating process. I'll keep you updated on that. The idea is to try it for 30 days to try and understand why other people make the decision to be vegetarian. To gain perspective and experience. I think it ought to be a fun adventure.
You and Xiao Feng rock my socks! I LOVED the video's you posted on FB. Especially the Vegetarian video with the food. The red stuff to the right looked amazing and now I'm hungry!!! I'm going to make my Veggie post this weekend so stay tuned.
Keep up with the video's if you can! I love em'!
Thanks Jane! I'm really glad you liked the vids. As long as I have an audience I'll try making some new content in the form of vids, writing and photos. Perhaps even some podcasts in the future. The red stuff is really goooood. I'm entirely unsure how to call it in English. It is to kinds of veggies fried together. The first one is called mugua - a kind of fungus mushroom like fellow and the second is wosuan - a kind of greenish stalk like veggie with a nice texture.
Haha, I watched the videos with Lyna and she was like, "Hmmm. What's that red dish? Hmm. Looks goooood. Smack smack..."
I love the sentence: The single word that strikes fear into the heart of meat eaters and grade three spelling bee contestants. Hilarious!
I think this MEX is a perfect idea! Both for life and for a lively blog- I've never heard of another idea like it. It's fabulous! You can try out different things, write about your experiences with it and at the end of the month either encorporate it into your life or say, "Thanks, but an educated no thanks." I look forward to seeing how this goes! I have many vegetarian friends, and also a few who crossed back over to the dark meat side.
If you ever want future MEX suggestions, lemme know. I'm working on a jingle now.
Don't mean ta vex ya
but I got a new mex, yeah?
it's only for 30 days
this experimental haze
and then the jury is in
myself, my friends and kin
to decide if it's a blessing or
a witch's hex (ya).
...er. Still working on it.
Hahah!
I just discovered this jem sitting in my comments! Wow... I'm glad that didn't go overlooked. I may have to ask you for copyright permission on that jingle.
You totally get why I'm doing MEX - that's cool. It's one big part education.
